About

The Hawkesbury Multicultural Festival

The Multicultural Festival was born from a desire to discover and immerse oneself in the values of several cultures, thus creating a new synergy by using culture as a common thread. It was thanks to the “Welcoming Francophone Community” initiative and its support that the first edition took place in 2022. Since then, the event has grown.

Now in its fourth edition, the success of this initiative was felt, as in 2024, several thousand participants attended the three-day celebration. With more than 20 shows, games, and several cultural discoveries, the Town of Hawkesbury successfully achieved several objectives: promoting the Francophonie in our region, encouraging culture, stimulating the local economy, revitalizing our downtown, establishing a discovery niche, and strengthening rural vitality.

This year again, the Festival will offer a vibrant and diverse program on two stages: the Desjardins Stage and the CFA Discovery Stage. Last year, the Festival’s visual identity was enhanced with a new logo that highlights the values of this event. This year, the logo will proudly feature the maple leaf, a symbol of our Canadian heritage. This addition reflects a need to proudly display our support for Canadian solidarity. At the Festival, let’s be proud of our roots, whatever they may be, in a country that welcomes and values our differences.

This year, the festival will take place on June 27 and 28, and will once again allow visitors to discover and appreciate each other’s differences through the theme of culture. Several other discoveries and family activities will be featured during the July 1 festivities. We wish everyone an excellent Festival filled with discoveries.

Medhi Bousaidan
Desjardins Stage
June 28
7:15 PM

Brilliant. This is the first word that comes to mind after a conversation with Mehdi Bousaidan. A keen observer of the world around him, he combines humor, culture, and reflection with rare ease. Behind his keen eye, we discover an artist deeply committed to his work, driven by questions of meaning, identity, and society.

Born in Algeria and arriving in Quebec at the age of five, Mehdi grew up in Laval in a family where the word “sacrifice” takes on its full meaning. The youngest of siblings, he seriously embraces the silent responsibility felt by many children of immigrants: to succeed in order to honor his parents’ journey. He has turned this pressure into a strength.

From an early age, he became interested in major issues: education, culture, and history. After studying communications and cinema, and a brief foray into theology motivated by a fascination with religion, Mehdi found a common ground in humor. He sees it as a career capable of bringing together all his passions—writing, social analysis, and performance. An admirer of Pierre Desproges, he chooses humor not as an escape, but as a tool for reflection.

A graduate of the National School of Humor, he cut his teeth in bars, hosted evenings at L’Abreuvoir, reached the finals of “En route vers mon premier gala,” and participated in television projects such as “LOL:-“). His first major contract came with Med, a youth show broadcast on VRAK 2, which bears his name and unique imprint. A comedian, but also a thinker of his generation, Mehdi embodies a lucid, articulate, and resolutely forward-looking artistic generation.
